Blocked nose and nasal polyps

The nose is responsible for the filtering, warming and moistening of inhaled air. During the normal development of the inner nose – or by outer trauma - the nasal septum may become deviated. If the septal deviation is quite strong, one develops an impaired nasal breathing. In addition to that, a growth of the nasal cavernous body might be responsible for an impaired breathing. Furthermore true nasal polyps might block the nose and the sinuses and cause recurrent infections, secretions as well as headaches.

In case of allergies being the cause for an impaired nasal breathing, the treatment might be purely medicamentous . Often a conservative therapy is not sufficient and a surgical treatment must follow. This procedure is not painful and might be carried out in an ambulatory service.
